2 Feb 2015 (Monday)

Dear children,

Our Class Library is finally up today and you were so excited about all the books you can now read! :)

The books we have so far were donated by Matthew and Genevieve's parents. If your parents have books that they wish to donate to our Class Library, please let me know. As you can see, we still have quite a bit of space on our shelf.

These are the 16 Super Spellers for last Friday's spelling who earned 2 ice-cream sticks each for their groups:

Alden and Yu Qi from Universe
Giselle from Pikachu

I awarded 1 ice-cream stick each to the following pupils for making big improvement in their spelling scores too:

If your name has been mentioned above, well done! :)

During English lesson, we spent time going through corrections for last week's work on comparative adjectives, quantifiers and demonstrative pronouns before we started learning more similes like "lonely as a cloud" and "smart as a whip". Maths periods were spent working on subtraction sums involving 4-digit numbers and a few word problems involving comparison models.

I am sure all of you enjoyed the birthday party today. Thanks to many of your parents who put in the time, effort and money to organise the party for us, we got to celebrate the birthdays of the January and February babies! I am sure you thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and the games, as well as the goodie bags prepared for you! Here are a few photographs taken by some of your parents. I will share more photographs when I get the rest.

I hope you remembered to personally thank our parents for all the love shown to you! Here are some of them:

After the party, we gave out the Group of the Month awards for January to Truth. Truth worked extremely hard over the past week and surprised us, emerging the winning group of our competition this month. I am very glad about the effort shown. Well done, Truth! :)

Each member of Truth received their own certificate of achievement and 5 pieces of stationery as their prizes.

Here are the final scores for January:

As we begin February's competition today, the scores have been reset. We start afresh. Every group begins from zero and all of you have an equal chance to win the next round. Will your group be the Group of February? You decide! ;)

These are today's reminders:

1) If you have Mother Tongue enrichment or remedial lesson tomorrow from 3 to 4 p.m., please remember that you are not allowed to go home while waiting for it. After lunch, all waiting students are supposed to report to the Hildan Ark for further instructions.

2) You would have received your Spelling Book today. Remember the 3 things you have to do whenever you get back your Spelling Book:

-Complete your corrections if you have any.
-Update your contents page.
-Show your completed work to your parents and ask for a signature.

Bring your Spelling Book back tomorrow.

3) You would also have received your Grammar Exercise Book today. If you have corrections, complete them. Submit your corrections to me tomorrow.

Have an enjoyable evening with your family. See you tomorrow! :)
