Dear children,
We spent quite some time today changing the seating arrangement so that all of you would be comfortable with where you are seated. It took much time and effort, but I am glad you can now learn better with this new seating plan. This will be the arrangement for the rest of Term 1:
During English lesson, you learnt about the order of adjectives and made some sentences with some noun phrases. Test yourself again: What is the rule behind why we should say "big brown bear" instead of "brown big bear"? Should we say "blue long snake" or "long blue snake"?
We also discussed how some nouns can act as adjectives when placed right beside another noun. For example, in the phrase "sea animals", the noun "sea" acts like an adjective to describe the noun "animals". The noun "sea" tells us what sort of animals we are referring to.
Here is a quick self-test: Which nouns act like adjectives in the following phrases?
- orange juice
- ice-cream stick
- plastic bag
- table-tennis room
- dog food
We also discussed the past tense of some irregular verbs like "break", "draw" and "write". Do you remember what is one main difference between regular verbs and irregular verbs?
English lesson ended with you working on two editing exercises which helped you practise your spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Then, we moved on to work on a science labelling exercise where you were required to label correctly the different parts of a fish, a bird, an insect and a frog.
Towards the end of the day, we worked on corrections for your maths subtraction exercises and word problems. You would have realised from my marking that the mistakes that you made are almost all due to carelessness. I emphasise again -- check, check and check before you submit.
These are the only 4 pupils who made sure that they submitted accurate and perfect work without careless mistakes:
Marc from Mars
Chloe Chiang from Ninjas
Matthew from Superstar
Jia Ning from Truth

They each earned 2 ice-cream sticks for their groups -- the first ice-cream sticks awarded in February.
These are today's announcements:
1) Bring your blue Biology book on Friday. We will be using it for science soon. It is an item on your book list and you should have bought it. It looks like this:
If you wish, you may bring it tomorrow or on Thursday and keep it in the classroom.
2) Start preparing for Friday's spelling test. There is no success without hard work.
