3 July 2015 (Friday)

Dear children,

We spent some fruitful time today learning about perpendicular lines and parallel lines in our everyday lives. We also learnt to draw perpendicular lines on square grid. That was quite challenging for some of you when we first started, but I am glad most of you have now mastered the skill and are confident to draw them on your own. Persevering through difficult tasks will eventually make them easy to you!

If I tell you that I have two lines -- AB and CD -- and that AB is perpendicular to CD, can you imagine how the two lines would look?  How would you describe them to somebody? How different would the lines look if I told you that AB is parallel to CD? How would you describe the two lines then? You should be able to answer me right away! Try drawing them out on rough paper. :)

Remember to work on the activities and exercises I have assigned you in your blue booklet and your green booklet. Refer to your handbook for the pages you are supposed to complete and submit by Monday.

During Science lesson, we revised some key concepts we learnt yesterday and worked on a short exercise in your Cycles Activity Book. We also spent some time at the end of the day planting your group's bean plants. Let's hope they will grow well in the classroom under your responsible care.

Have you been watching your seeds at home? Have you been watering them daily? I hope you have! Start taking some photographs of them too. The photographs will be very useful when you have to post your first weekly blog update next week. I will show you how to put up your entries on the blog next Monday. Some of you have been telling me excitedly over the past few days about your seeds germinating. I can't wait to see how they are growing under your care. ;)

During SDP, we learnt about the importance of putting first things first. Are you able to explain to your parents why that is important? If you have some time this weekend, share with them what you have learnt about the pickle jar, the sweets and the paper balls, and Brother Bear!

Have an enjoyable weekend with your family. See you on Monday! :)
